The better prepared you are the more successful your interview would be. what exactly the interviewer think when he is asking a question or what exactly answer he is looking at and what are the common mistakes a person do while giving an interview.
Common Job Interview Questions
Q1 Tell me about yourself
The first more common question the interviewer asks, “Please tell me about yourself or run me through your CV”. While asking this question interviewer is not interested in what you answer. He looks your confidence enthusiasm and your passion that you answer with. This is the time when you show off your communication skills. Many people say “I love watching movies”, or “I love a party as I have so many friends it is really enjoying the party. No that’s not the right way that you answered. that question what you need to talk about is your education where you grew up, all you can talk about your work experience if you have or any personal interest, for example, you can say “when I grow up I study accounting I also work in accounting firm for about eight month and I really enjoyed the number I love to solve them and solving there is so much fun. In my spare time, I like reading and jogging only if the weather allows me too”. So that the way you can answer the question
Q2 What are your strengths?
The second more popular question asked by the interviewer is, “what are your strengths?” The interviewer is looking at how positive you are about yourself if you simply answer “I am a very friendly person and I love people and people love being with me” that does not sound great in an interview. So what you can say my strength is attention to the details. I totally believe in planning and execution. In fact, even when I was in college I used to organize my week. Because of my outgoing nature, many people had said that I am quite approachable. So I believe that these are my strength.
Q3 What are your weaknesses?
The third most common question that is “What are your weaknesses?” Here you need not to be really negative about yourself some people answer like “I am a very impatient person and people say I got angry easily”
That’s not the right answer. Maybe that is your weakness. But you need not to bring it out. The best answer or the interviewer may be looking for is whether you can identify your weakness and how you cover up. So one of the example that you can use. You can answer “yes I think my weakness is that I am more detail oriented I try to accomplish everything I just want anything to be perfect but then I realize that I am losing out on time so that the projects may be pretty late. So that it is one of my weakness”. So here what you are doing is you maybe run out of them but you are also giving a very positive aspect that you are a perfectionist. I think that is the best way that you can answer this question
Q4 Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
The next common question that is asked is where you see yourself five years from now. The interviewer asks what are your short term or long term goals. Maybe you yourself have no idea where you would like to be so usually people end up saying “I would like to be the CEO of this company or I would like to own an airline”. That does not sound right. What is the good answer to this question would be? Here the interviewer is looking at how committed you are going to be towards his company. A very clear part with commitment. Every employee wants to know about how long you will stick to the company. One of the best answers that you can give would be, “five years from now I would like to be in management position till then I would like to gain practical experience and eventually I will become a manager. Of course, I would like to share and learn a lot of new things from my team members”.
Q5 what do you know about our company?
The next popular question that is asked tells me something about our company or what you know about our company. Here the interview has knowledge about his company as he is working for. What he is looking for that is whether you are serious about his job or not. Whether you have come from one of those random interviews. Many peoples are usually let down because of lack of research about the company so what you need to do is research. Go online and research the positive attributes of the company. Learn about their products their history etc. So one of the best ways that you can answer to this question is, “your company is well known for customers service and you have won the award of the best service provider in the country and of course you also have a great client help”. So that’s one of the best ways to answer this question.
Q6 How well do you handle the challenge?
The sixth more common question that is asked, how well do you handle the change?
The philosophy behind this question is to know, would you be able to cope up the change? Because usually companies definitely come up with different strategies, employees come and go so would you be able to handle that. People usually end up saying “of course I am a great handler of the change. The interviewer will not be impressed with this answer. How you can answer to this question with an example would be “of course I can handle the change because in my previous company one of my bosses had to quiet and their new boss came and he has completely changed the strategy of our project. So, of course, I am very flexible hardworking too. So we managed it with our team efforts and definitely the results for pretty good. So this is the way that you could answer this question
Q7 Do you work well under pressure?
The next common question that is asked how well do you work under pressure the reason behind this question is the employer or the interviewer wants to know what do you get really stressed out or get really panic under pressure. Because under those days company, of course, expect to take more and more responsibility and a greater workload. So the best way to answer this question is “definitely working under pressure or without pressure is the same for me, in fact in one of the companies I was working there was a project that was given to us, had to be completed in 4 day which usually take 10 days and the whole team felt so stress. T and panic and just did not know what to do but then I was sure they settle down. We prioritize our work and in fact, in a very organized manner, we completed the project. Of course, we also work late at night but that definitely help to submit our project in due date. So I think working under pressure is not bad for me”. So this is one of the best answers that you can give to this question.
Q8 How do you make important decisions?
The last common question that is asked is, how do you handle important decisions? Know the reason behind this question is usually if someone out the interview is hiring the person or you for management position of all lead position. So you want to know that someday when you have to handle a very important or very critical decision on how you would do that. Many people and I’m saying you know what I haven’t come across or I haven’t dealt with such a situation. That’s not the right answer you would give. What is the right answer of this question is you can say,“ while handling the situation it’s definitely considered to be difficult but I am sure I can do it because I have the experience that I can do it. I can rely on my experience and also the way and the pros and cons. I shall discuss with my team members. They will help to come on a decision. We will also look at the consequences of the decision so definitely, I can go and handle the situation”.
